Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music. --Ronald Reagan
Music has a way of relating to the past, reminding us of our most memorable experiences. In my opinion, one of the greatest feelings is recalling a song that can truly set me back in time.
I can almost relive the summer before my senior year in high school, driving my Volkswagen Passat to our family lake house with the windows rolled down and jamming to a combination of Blues Travelers and Ingram Hill. Call me crazy, but music sets a tone and adds an excitement to life that cannot be described. Even this summer, late night drives over the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, SC are summed up by belting the words to my summer favorite, “American Honey” by Lady Antebellum. Honestly, I could go on and on connecting popular songs to different events in my life.
Road trips are the perfect place to build these memories. Create a soundtrack to your vacation and plan to remember it forever.
For beginners out there, I’d like to start your musical vacation off with a little trip to New Orleans and back. Strolling along the French Quarter and indulging in the finest Cajun cuisine, I encourage you to enhance these memories with a bit of Louisiana music.
